Lastly it is the intention of the Under 16 management to work closely with the areas & club coaches to develop the English players, & educate them in all areas of the game.

Our management team want to look at ALL the players in this age group, and not just the players already known to them. We embark on a hard challenge, but believe we have the players & training program in place to compete at this level. Training will be tough, and require Sacrifice, commitment & ability to want to be PERFECT at our game.

Peter TeagueUnder 16 Head coach

KKA International Inter-Area - Belgium

Host's for the Vlaams-Brabant area were Royal Olympia, Anderlecht who we thank very much for all their hard work and effort to run the competition and look after the KKA Squads so well.

KKA U13s had an excellent tournament winning a couple of matches in the morning and being very close in the afternoon. This has meant we need to cut down the squad to a group of 10 girls and 10 boys. This has been a particularly difficult decision to make and much thought has gone into this selection both from the players ability and technique and their own input/feedback we received from them.

For further information see County Squads section

Anne-Marie Turner - KKA U16 Manager

National Championships for Under 11s

The National Championships for Under 11s will be held on Saturday 19th January at Strood Sports, Centre, Strood, Kent.

Applications should be sent to Frank.Sieber@blueyonder.co.uk and should be received by Sunday 12th January.

Frank Sieber - EKA Youth Competitions Co-ordinator

KKA U16s

Coaches Chris Martin and Adam Smith have revised the KKA U16 Squad to reflect the very high levels of competition.

Regretfully, due to pressures of work etc, Rebecca Woolmer has had to withdraw as coach for the squad. The board of KBKB attended the tournament and were greatly impressed by the very good standards and the ethos of the tournament.

The social event and the organisation of accommodation was first class and our thanks to Peter D'Hollander and his team for their help and assistance throughout the time we spent in Belgium.

Naturally these tours only come together by the hard work of many people. Phillip Locke has once again been outstanding organising most of the aspects of this trip. Everyone enjoyed the sessions and now feel more confident in promoting the growth of Korfball in Kent both at club and county level. It was good to see so many young people prepared to give up their time to give something back to the sport.

KKA is indebted to Peter Allan for his help and assistance, which was greatly appreicated by all those attending and to Sarah Risby, of the Medway Sports Development Team.

Congratulations to the following successful candidiates:

Bearsted - Alan Beale

Kingfisher - Chris Martin, Adam Hall, Don Thornberg, Suzy Fenson, Lisa Geddes.

Tornadoes - Josh Lloyd, Lauren Officer, John Gilbert, Diane Stubbs, Richard Woodham.

Kwiek - John Haggart, Azi Sieber, Adam Smith, Lisa Falconer, Vicky Lawson, Rebecca Woolmer, Saskia de Jaeger.

Jackie Hubbard - KKA Development Officer

National Championships for U11s – Results

Once again the National Championships for Under 11s teams proved to be one of the most hotly contested Championships.
Tornadoes 1 played exceptionally well throughout the day and moved through to the finals. The team that joins them in the finals was a much closer event with real drama.
Kingfisher and Tornadoes 2 were equal on points at the end of the pool rounds, having played against each other in a very exciting draw, also with identical goal difference, an additional period of play-off time was utilised – an excellent match and predictably a draw. Penalty shoot-out, again a draw, leading to a sudden death penalties. Finally the narrowest win 3-2 to Kingfisher. Well done to them and also to Tornadoes 2. A superb climax to an excellent days play. Third place to Tornadoes 2 and Fourth place to Kwiek.
Winners of the Penalty Shootout Competition was Tornadoes 1 with Kwiek in 2nd place.
The day’s play was at a very high level indeed, and all of the participating teams made a superb contribution. These young players were all outstanding and played with great skill, tenacity and technical ability beyond their years.
Reflecting this with the MVP awards with different names being submitted by the match referee. MVP Boy went to Ollie of Tornadoes and MVP Girl to Jess of Scorpions. Outstanding play, from both these two players throughout the day.
As ever matches can’t happen without Refs, so a big thank you to Paul, John, Azi and Kevin.
The control desk was run by a young group of players in the Under 16 age grouping, who did a superb job. Thanks to Megan, Josh, Syd and Jamie. Thanks also due to Jackie Hubbard, Alan Geddes, Eileen Denton and Richard Woodhams for supplying the equipment. Trojans were a difficult side and caused both Tornadoes and Kingfisher some problems.

Bearsted managed to defeat WLW the pool favourites by the narrowest margin meet Kingfisher from their afternoon pool. Kwiek proved to be very difficult as ever and played very well. Sadly injuries to Ryan Banks and Natalie Baldwin took a little of the edge of their afternoon.

B teams featured extremely well in the competition and WLW, Bearsted and Tornadoes B teams all played very well indeed. A real credit to the teams that had quite a few younger players who adapted and played very well at the higher level.

A very good days play.
