MEssage from GB U16 Coach
Pete Teague, the under 16 coach, has listed the skills that will be tested at the forthcoming trials on Saturday, 17th May, 2008. ‘Excellence is the gradual result of always wanting to do better’ & ‘You can become a winner only if you are prepared to walk over the EDGE' We are looking for 2 squads.
DEVELOPMENT SQUAD
Players aged 11 to 13 We will be looking to develop the next generation of young korfballers.
Training will consist of coaching EXCELLENT basic skills in 3 areas;
Passing (both one & two handed)
Movement (both attack & defence minded)
Technical shooting
Club Coaches that have players with potential and would like to know what the coaching program is, can email me directly on ptcitys@hotmail.com
MAIN SQUAD
We will be building a team capable of challenging at the YOUTH TALENT CUP 08. Training will focus on a number of core skills. The trial will be designed to test out players ability in the following. Passing & catching (one & two handed)Team defence / Individual one on oneReboundingShooting on the moveAthletic SkillsMental toughness – TCUP (thinking correctly under pressure)
All players will watch a short 10 minute film on the tournament, to see what is required at International level. The international squad is an environment where you will be expected to have the ability to WANT to learn & listen correctly.
Training will be on Saturdays throughout the year, and we have a number of specialist coaches in Sport psychology, athletic conditioning, & data analysis of performance. We will be aiming towards a clearly defined set of goals.
To ensure that players are ready for International competition you will be expected to attend any international matches organised throughout the year. Lastly it is the intention of the Under 16 management to work closely with the areas & club coaches to develop the English players, & educate them in all areas of the game.
Our management team want to look at ALL the players in this age group, and not just the players already known to them. We embark on a hard challenge, but believe we have the players & training program in place to compete at this level. Training will be tough, and require Sacrifice, commitment & ability to want to be PERFECT at our game.

KKA International Inter-Area - Belgium
Host's for the Vlaams-Brabant area were Royal Olympia, Anderlecht who we thank very much for all their hard work and effort to run the competition and look after the KKA Squads so well.
KKA U13s had an excellent tournament winning a couple of matches in the morning and being very close in the afternoon. Very strong performances all round.
KKA U16s were very impressive indeed winnning most of their matches and winning their age-group overall.
KKA U19s which have had little time to get together and were put together at quite short notice did very well, losing most of their matches by the odd one or two, but managed to play the tournament with a smile. Well done to them.
Overall another very good tournament with close matches at every age group.
Thanks to all our Korfballfriends from Vlaams-Brabant and Rheinland.

Kingfisher - New National U13 Champions
Kingfisher are the new National Champions at the Under 13 age group.
Last year's defending champions Tornadoes got off to the worst possible start losing their first three matches, but in excellent style fought they way back into playoff contention.
At the end of the pool stage Bearsted led the field with Scorpions in 2nd position.
Invicta lost their chance to be in the playoffs just being pipped by Nomads, who were extremely unlucky not to defeat Bearsted in their final match.
The 1st v 4th playoff saw Bearsted narrowly defeat the rejuvinated Tornadoes by a single goal in a very tight match.
The other playoff 2nd v 3rd with Kingfisher against Scorpions was even closer with Kingfisher finally winning a thrilling and very tense penalty shoot-out.
5th - 6th position in the playoffs was Invicta v Nomads with a very strong finish defeated a very gallant Invicta side.
3rd - 4th saw Tornadoes back in action against Scorpions and were just too strong at the end of a long day winning 4-1.
Bearsted who had played very well in the early round came up against Kingfisher who wanted to turn round their disappointing result from the pool matches and were very worthy winners in a close match.
Thanks to everyone who made a contribution to the day, especially Scorpions who took on the organisation of the event, Kevin, Tony, Phil and Peter who spent a very long day refereeing all the matches.
Once again Jackie kept the organisation well oiled with loads of coffee!
Well done to Kingfisher - EKA Under 13 National Campions!

KKA Squad Reduced
This has been a tremendous year for the interest shown in the Kent Under 16 squad.
It was a hard decision to come up with the players selected from the initial September/October trials, we have tried to keep the younger players involved to keep up their development for the future and it is now even harder now to make another cut after the improvements and commitment seen by all the players.
Unfortunately, now is the time we really need to concentrate and focus our efforts upon the actual teams required to play in the upcoming competitions. This has meant we need to cut down the squad to a group of 10 girls and 10 boys. This has been a particularly difficult decision to make and much thought has gone into this selection both from the players ability and technique and their own input/feedback we received from them.
For further information see County Squads section

KKA U16s
Coaches Chris Martin and Adam Smith have revised the KKA U16 Squad to reflect the very high levels of competition.
Regretfully, due to pressures of work etc, Rebecca Woolmer has had to withdraw as coach for the squad. Philip Locke, at very short notice, has agreed to assist the squad, coaches and management.
KKA U16 Squad would like to pay tribute to the excellent contribution Rebecca has made and she will be sorely missed by all.
